Sophia is now two days old and she's doing well. So much had been going on and I've been so tired but spending as much time in the NICU as possible. I was told by my nurse yesterday that I need to stop walking so much and rest. I was walking back and forth between my room in one hospital and hers in the next. I still had my antibiotics every few hours and other meds I had to be back for but as soon as it was all done I was right there with Sophia. My husband was at the hospital but he hadnt slept so I let him sleep and just went back and forth. Boy was he mad when he woke up and realized how much I had been walking. Needless to say I over did myself....... I was hurting SOOOO bad lastnight. I was doing well myself until I finally rested and it all caught up with me.

Ok, so back to my beautiful Sophia. Yesterday I was able to bottle feed her for the first time and hold her for the first time as well. Oh I just love, love, love her!!! Right now we have to bottle feed so that we can measure how much she's taking in but my milk has come in and we have more than enough supply. She's only allowed 4 ml per feeding. The feedings at this point are only to make sure everything on the inside is doing what it's supposed to do. She's getting most of her nutrients through IV which is going through her umbilical cord. Today Sophia had her first transitional stool which is simply a normal BM and not the black tar that first comes out. lol oh the things you learn to enjoy in life. I was so thrilled today to see her stool. I even got to change her diapers today and take her temps. The diapers are premie sized but they just swallow her.

Since Sophia lost 2 ounces the doctors decided to put her in an incubator so that she can be idle as much as possible. At this age everything she does burns precious calories. Crying, stretching, eating, being moved, etc.... So the incubator will help block out most noise to prevent her from waking and she doesnt have to be moved as much since it has the scale built in and everything she'll need right there. She's still bottle feeding but before she was feeding via bottle every 3 hours. Now she has a feeding tube so she'll take one feeding through the tube and then the next 3 hour feeding is by bottle. She's doing really good at learning to latch on and suck so I dont think she'll have much of a problem with weight gain.
